Little goals, big smiles
At Wellesley Nursery, Personal, Social, Health and Economic (PSHE) learning plays a central role in helping children develop confidence, independence, and a sense of responsibility. A key part of this is encouraging children to set personal goals, which helps them focus on their own growth, understand what they want to achieve, and celebrate their successes along the way.
Trying, learning and achieving
At the beginning of this half term, our Nursery children set their own short-term goals, choosing challenges that were meaningful to them. Over the past few weeks, it has been wonderful to see their determination, resilience, and achievements come to life. Some of the goals included:
- Learning to zip up their coat
- Writing their name
- Completing a jigsaw puzzle independently
In our final Jigsaw session before half term, we celebrated all their hard work with special certificates, recognising their effort, persistence, and progress. To make the celebration extra special, the children enjoyed Jigsaw Jennie–inspired face paint, which added a fun and magical touch to the occasion.
So much to be proud of
The process of setting and achieving goals is an important life skill. It encourages children to reflect on their abilities, take pride in their efforts, and build confidence in trying new challenges. At Wellesley Nursery, we are so proud of how much our children have grown, both personally and socially.
Well done to all our Nursery stars — your hard work, determination, and enthusiasm for learning truly deserve to be celebrated!
